It was so hard picking a Christmas card. Liz made this one but I thought it might be hard deciding who belonged to who... So top left is Liz's two, Truman and Chantel who are in New York. Next is the twins,
Ellie and James who belong to Katie and Brent. 2nd row left is Relle (Sara's) and Eliza (Andrew's). Next to them in the tub is Wickman and Tennessee (both Sara's). Dominican Republic

Doug took me on a wonderful trip to the Dominican Republic. We got an amazing deal. Forty dollars per person for this beautiful all inclusive resort. They advertised it at $20 but that didn't include taxes. This first picture is the private beach we frequented. You had a beautiful view of the beach, a hot tub, and private beds that you could relax on.

This was a daily ritual.

This is Doug's perfect vacation..a beach, a good book and plenty of naps.
This one qualified on all three accounts.

Hoppin' John, a Southern Tradition

we have it all right, we've begun our remodel. No!, it's not a swimming
pool.

Too bad that the day after I took Truman back to New York, two bulldozer
came to begin digging this hole. He would have been totally in heaven.

Bring in the New Year

Several Years ago we started a tradition of bringing in the the New Year with
Doug's UFOs. He learned this from his Uncle Bob who lived in San Diego.
We've been enjoying this lost art for quite awhile. This year was
especially cold so it worked very well.

Here we are all together. My niece Mallory was here this year to help us.

A Tahitian Cruise

Doug and I went on a fabulous Tahitian Cruise the end of October 2009. Doug found a great deal. It was just the two of us on a cruise ship for a week. We loved it! It was relaxing and very beautiful. So here is Doug showing the map of Bora Bora

We went on a little jeep safari and found these World War II guns. Good thing they didn't have to use them, because they sent the wrong size ammo. Dad's just resting.

Dad and I on another tour. We rode on this lovely bus to a vanilla farm.

These are vanilla beans out drying in the sun.

The same day as the family owned vanilla farm, we also visited a family owned black pearl farm. These ladies greeted us with song. They showed us how they black pearls are made, then fed us a fun snack of little very sweet banana's, pineapple and mango's. Very delicious. Notice the size of the black pearls around their necks.

These white round things have been brought to Tahiti from the Mississippi River. They are carefully implanted into the oysters, and then the oysters are sewn together with some fishing line so they are about 10 deep with several inches separating them. They are hung in the ocean but must be pulled up and cleaned every
3 or 4 months for two years.

Tennessee Winson Taylor arrived weighing in at 8 lbs 1 oz and stretching 20" long. Sara checked in the hospital at 5:00 AM and was induced. He arrived at ll:47 AM. He didn't even wait for the doctor to arrive. I went to see him and he is just an angel. He makes the cutes little noises and is so content and cuddly. Oh how I love new babies. Who do you think he looks like? We see some of Doug, some of Eliza his cousin, and some of his sister Syrelle. He definately has Sara's lips. We'll have to wait to see what time brings.

Tennessee Winson Taylor's name came from Paul's side of the family. Tennessee is from his Grandpa Taylor's side of the family. Winson is part of Pocahontas's father's name. The Taylor genealogy has one of their relatives marrying Pocahontas. So maybe he'll be a dark little Indian baby.

Tea for Two or Eleven

Pam Hostessed the cutest Tea Party ever for her neighborhood girls. They were told to come with * an accent from England * An English name starting with Lady, Mrs. Madame, Princess or your Highness * A Sophisticated Outfit * Some good stories * Your favorite tea cup and saucer * Hats will be provided.
She had little sandwiches cut out with meat and cheese, little cupcakes, brownies, crumpets, scones, and because it was a hot day we had raspberry lemonade or water. The girls learned etiquette, some french words, and had a ball with the hats and gloves. In attendance was Lady Lollipop, Lady Margarethe Pearl, Miss Pearlene (Pam)
Lady Eugeneous Ewe (Kim) Her Highness Constance P. Zealot (that's me), and many more fun neighbor girls. Pam made it special with lace table clothes, little press on rhinestones for their pinkie fingers to remind them to keep it up. They were so fun to see and be with. I was so excited I came dressed and ready the day before. Life is always fun with Pam.. "It's a jolly Holiday with Pami, Pami makes your heart feel glad. When the days are gray and ordinary, Pami makes the sun shine through." Well you get the idea. Love that girl!! Tea time was Posh Katie came over at the end and we had her try on the hats. (as a sidenote, most the these hats belonged to Verdi's grandmother) Reminded me of the book "Caps, Caps for Sale". Which is your favorite hat?

Lake Powell June 2009

We had a wonderful week in Lake Powell. Sara & Paul and their kids came the whole week. Katie and Brent came for the first two days, then had to leave. Mike came on Sunday and stayed the rest of the time. On Monday, Natalie Ipson, our niece and her husband Cory and two darling daughters came. We had great water, great weather and loved it. Thanks for the memories.

Gathering in South Carolina

We had a great opportunity to be together in South Carolina. Ali came up for a wedding, I went to Boiling Springs to tend. Liz flew down from New York, and Andrew took a day off and we went to the zoo. Doug flew in and we headed for Ridgeland, where I was born. Mike flew in for a few days. Linda and Kathy were already there so it was a big group of us. We visited our dear relatives there, and oh how we love them. It was so beautiful, and so good to see everyone. I wanted my children to experience and feel my love for the South, and understand their roots. It was a success. They all want to go back. Thanks to Steve & Joan, Aunt Ruth, Aunt Parniece, for your hospitality. Good to see Uncle Rudy, Aunt Bill and Aunt Tena as well as many cousins. Love you.. You mean the world to us.

Poland, A Wonderful Surprise

Mike,his friend from Poland Macji, his friend Amy Moss, her mother Lonna and I spent 9 wonderful days in Poland the end of April beginning of May. It was so beautiful. Mike was the Photographer, but these are ones I took. I'd go again in a heart beat. It was so beautiful. The Polish are very religious people, so much of this is churches. Go if you ever get the chance.

Dancing with the Stars has nothing on Sara and Paul. These retro

Pooh thought that Bubba was a Doggie... Yummm wonder how he feels

when I was holding her. We went to a soccer game and she cried

20 Days and We're Counting

Oh my gosh how time is flying.... It won't be long at all now. The invitations are out. We hope we haven't forgotten anyone or made any huge mistakes. I've got sashes to make, cakes to bake and showers to enjoy.
These two are so dang cute. I hope it turns out the way they want and all is memorable. Katie is amazing. Yesterday she mowed the lawn then, cleaned the house. She's a go getter that's for sure.
She just informed me that Brent got a 5 which is like genius in calculus, and also got it in Stats and Chemistry. So I think he'll hang onto his academic scholarship.
Isn't this just the cutest dreamiest picture of Katie! Can't wait to have all the family together again.

You Know how I love kissing pictures. So here are the cute lovebirds who in a very appropriate way, can't keep their hands off each other.. True love! Ah it's bliss.

Mike came midway through and was a dream come true.
He cuddled Syrelle, played ball with Max, tickled Cecelia. He read the chapter
from the Boxcar Children that evening. All the noodles adore him and all wanted
to know why he left.

Syrelle loved to take all the pictures off the picture board as high
as she could reach. Notice her "Pink" shoes. She is just the cutest
thing ever. Very fun to dress.

Nanna in New York

Truman Mark Thomas Green entered the world on March 7th weighing in at 8 lbs. 11 oz. and 21 inches long. His mother followed in my steps having a c-section. It didn't take much to get me on a plane bound for New York to come help with this new little bundle. He's our 7th Grandchild.
He's a gift straight from Heaven. My favorite thing, cuddling my grandchildren.

Do I look happy? Because I am to so tickled to hold my new Grandson. We even color coordinated... Green of course!

This is three generations on his blessing day.. Doug was planning to attend, but his flight was full and he was grounded. He was sorely missed.
What a great family!!

Isn't she the perfect mom? She's a natural. What a joy to see my Liz as a beautiful happy mom.

Truman in his new "Ergo" taking a walk with Nanna on the campus of Columbia University on the way home from his doctors appointment. We're playing peek a boo.
Who could be luckier than me?

I did learn some new tricks from a video entitled "The Happiest Baby on the block" by Dr. Harvey Karp. His 5 S's for soothing a crying baby are.
1. Swaddle the baby tightly (they've been used to tight quarters and feel more secure)
2. turn the baby on it's side and hold it securely (over your knees is ideal). This is reflex that works wonders.
3. make a shh'ing noise to imitate the noise in the womb.
4. swing the baby gently helps calm them down, and he recommends using swings to keep
them happy once they've been settled down. He also very gently giggles their head as he's holding the baby on it's side and the head is in his hand. (very gently).
5. sucking, give them a Binky and giggle it a bit to help them develop the muscles to keep it
in their mouth.

Liz and I watched his video yesterday and saw him sooth and settle baby after baby. Doug
has always had the knack, and without being given instructions instinctively knew all the steps and used them to get our children settled down. I married a genius!!

Alas I must go home tomorrow.. Do you think I could smuggle him home?

I'm glad I'll have Henry to greet me at home.
